Re: sakae in burlingame
Mon, September 13, 2004 - 10:41 AMi went there and it was ok. i was new to california at the time, and outraged that i had to pay for rice. and i think it was actually more than just the typical $1 per person. i was like, whoa. and not in a good way. but it sure beats this really horrible sushi place i went to in foster city. but that was run by non-japanese people, so guess you get what you pay for.
oh, and it's not like sasabune. but i didn't do omakase. -

Mon, September 13, 2004 - 2:31 PMdo you think the omakase would be worth a shot? -

Re: sakae in burlingame
Mon, September 13, 2004 - 4:07 PMit was pricey, parking is kinda a pain, and it's far from the city.
that would require planning and patience. -

dang it Jay! :P
Sushi's Sam has one of the best spicy tuna rolls of tasted. All their sashima is fresh and yummy.
It's weak in reviews but I definitely think you should try this place.

Wed, June 28, 2006 - 7:14 PMI went there 2 years ago. overhyped in my opinion. And the prices were a bit high for the quality.
There isn't many good sushi bars in the mid penninsula (north of palo alto, south of SF) -

Thu, June 29, 2006 - 1:47 PMYeah, I kinda agree. They charged some ridiculous price for rice, too.
There are a few good izakaya-type places in the mid-peninsula, but I haven't come across any great sushi experiences.
